斜管沉淀池是在浅层理论的基础上发展起来的,与传统的平流沉淀池相比具有表面负荷高、去除率高、水力停留时间短、占地面积小等优点。流入斜板的混合液按泥水分离动力学原理分为三种流向:异向流、侧向流和同向流,斜管沉淀池可据此具体分为异向流沉淀池、侧向流沉淀池和同向流沉淀池。根据浅层理论论证,同向流沉淀池的泥水分离效果最好,效率最高。同向流板沉淀池由于沉淀过程中泥流和水流方向相同,这样促使泥渣加速下降,利于泥水分离,不会像异向流斜板沉淀池那样一旦水流上升流增大会减慢泥碴下降速度,影响泥水分离效果和效率。同向流斜板沉淀池的表面负荷是异向流斜板沉淀池表面负荷的3~5倍,另外,同向流斜板沉淀池斜板不易积泥,且易清洗。但是当前同向流斜板沉淀池在工程中应用很少,原因则是同向流斜板沉淀池斜板中的集水支管易被泥碴堵塞,影响清水收集线路通道,一旦堵塞需要全部停机,采用高压水进行冲洗,误工误时;而且泥水混合液沿斜板流下时,在斜板转折处由于惯性等因素会形成涡旋或旋流,对上清液产生干扰,加上传统的集水支管设在斜板转折处背面,使得在斜板转折处的上清液和泥碴层间更易产生干扰混合,降低了泥水分离效果。同时,传统的同向流斜板沉淀池依靠与集水槽的水位差来实现出水,出水效率低,且集水槽的下底部沉没在水面以下,干扰斜板上部进水均匀布水。
