The glass material composition comprises a glass portion comprising a base component and at least one absorption component. The glass portion of the frit contains silica, boron oxide, optionally alumina, and (a) a combination of copper oxide and / or (b) iron oxide, five oxide two vanadium, and optionally titanium dioxide. The invention also relates to an article comprising a substrate and a glass material, and also a glass package comprising two substrates and a glass material disposed between the substrates. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing a hermetically sealed glass package comprising depositing a glass material and heating the glass material to form an airtight seal.
